JW to SDA anyone do it ?
by Introvert 2 ina couple friends pointed me to some info on the sabbath and i just plain like it, being the workaholic i am it's a lifesaver for me and gives me the motivation to be more balanced about my business and work schedule.
so from there i looked into the adventists and found a hall near my place and went last week.
i honestly enjoyed myself and the meeting time is not disruptive and the people were great and pretty laid back.

Anyone thought of this before ?? hahaha
Worldly people got no reason
Worldly people got no reason
Worldly people got no reason
To live
They got little hands
And little eyes
And they walk around
Tellin' great big lies
They got little noses
And tiny little teeth
They wear platform shoes
On their nasty little feet
Well, I don't want no worldly people
Don't want no worldly people
Don't want no worldly people
Round here
Worldly people are just the same
As you and I
( a fool such as I )
All men are brothers
Until the day they die
(it's a wonderful world)
Worldly people got nobody
Worldly people got nobody
Worldly people got nobody
To love
They got little baby legs
And they stand so low
You got to pick 'em up
Just to say hello
They got little cars
That got beep, beep, beep
They got little voices
Goin' peep, peep, peep
They got grubby little fingers
And dirty little minds
They're gonna get you every time
Well, I don't want no worldly people
Don't want no worldly people
Don't want no worldly people
'round here -

It is my understanding that the JW history is based loosely on the SDA faith. Kinda an offshoot after the Judge heard an SDA minister (Wendell Jones I believe} and liked what he heard.
As far as there not being a real truth, I would disagree. Jesus did start a church some 2000 years ago or so.
just saying
Yes I agree, was referring to organizations and doctrines.
Wasanelder once : LOL haha !

Hi all,
A couple friends pointed me to some info on the Sabbath and I just plain like it, being the workaholic I am it's a lifesaver for me and gives me the motivation to be more balanced about my business and work schedule. So from there I looked into the Adventists and found a hall near my place and went last week. I honestly enjoyed myself and the meeting time is not disruptive and the people were great and pretty laid back. But one thing is for sure if they offer me a study I'll decline for now and just have fun attending and get to meet new people. The teachings are close to what I know and they use Jehovah's name in prayer, seem balanced and have a holistic approach to health which I appreciate as I train. So was wondering if anyone here has experienced anything like this ?
There is no one truth in my opinion so it's always going to be a tradeoff but I just want to be able to be part of a group that uses the Bible and worships honestly. They are Trinitarian, I am not so there may be issues down the road and kind of want to now what to expect if anything.

Will the resurrected marry/have children?
by davidmitchell ini have just finished reading 'brock talon's' two books.
in one of them, entitled journey to god's house, pub.
he comments on how the wt's pictures of the post-armageddon world do not agree with their doctrines, namely that those who are physically resurrected will not marry/have children.

Hey Brock, BIG TEX is the man ! haha !
Good thread, funny on the Canadian convention, I guess they value their personal space. Maybe a case of halitosis from not brushing after a couple thousand years ? Just kidding, sad that they go on like that, weird.

Can You Really Become Inactive Instead of DA'ing and Keep Your Family
by truth-or-consequences inoz branch coordinator terrence o'brien opined a number of times at about 1:00:00 until about 1:15:00 of his testimony, that a dub does not need to da, they can become "inactive.".
i sent our beloved angus stewart my personal experience, as well as observations about official borg teachings.
(he replied in short order.).

Been inactive since '10 on account of a major burnout and the get well soon visits have tapered off to nothing, which suits me fine. Basically people would drop in while in service and check out my messy house ( used to be real tight before the burnout ) and suspect this gives them fuel for gossip. So basically the French language bros stay away from me and I view this asa positive. I'm going to a handful of English meetings on Sundays and that is all I care or am able to do at this moment. I prefer staying home and doing personal study / research. The difference in attitude I get between French / English in these parts is huge. -

Yahweh's wonderful creation
by fulltimestudent inwhen i thought of myself as a christian witness of yahweh attempting to be a footstep follower of jesus, psalm 104 was one of my favourites.
if i was ever in some wonderful scenic area, psalm 104 would jump into my mind, and i'd start to praise yahweh and jesus.. but if something horrible came to mind as in the following video, i'd always think of the favourite christian escape clause, it's all because of adam's sin.
but any connection between natural animal savagery and adam's sin is never logically made in the bible.. interestingly, the supposedly inspired psalm 104 (nwt-the grey one i guess) itself says that:.

As such the Psalm is a poetic description of the natural circle of life that includes both life and death as normal facets of creation.
Quite true CF, my take is that it's necessary for the life cycle / ecosystem to be self sustaining. The carcasses feed the bottom feeders and so on creating top soil all along the way through wastes. Think about it how else could it all hold together. Adam's sin does not have anything to do with some animals being meat eating killing machines, it's how they were designed and they seem to manage quite well with out us interfering. Of course I just pulled this out of my uneducated butt, but is my simple tradesman's slant.
